Celebrity Stylist – Eshaa Amiin

Bollywood’s beloved, Eshaa Amiin dons plenty of hats – first and foremost being a celebrity stylist and a costume designer. She is also the brainchild behind self-titled Eshaa Amiin Label and luxury styling consultancy The Style Elevator. Having adorned names like Sridevi, Karisma Kapoor, Jahnvi Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, and Saif Ali Khan, she is known for her sense of eclectic style and edge.

Growing up in Mumbai, Eshaa was a creative child interested in art, sketching, and design. Inspired by her mother, she graduated from NIFT Mumbai in 2007 and moved right into exploring fashion. She landed a job in a European export house, and after traveling to many European destinations like France, Madrid, and Germany, she decided to venture as a stylist. While traveling in 2012, she was fascinated by the many facets of being a stylist and decided to expand her horizons in both fashion and styling!

Surprisingly, celebrity styling was never part of Eshaa’s plans. She’d been styling for runways and fashion shoots, but her first celebrity styling opportunity arrived when she styled Sania Mirza for the JFW Awards Red Carpet while her first celebrity commercial was with Saif Ali Khan.

A decade down the lane, she’s worked with Bollywood’s most renowned personalities including Karisma Kapoor, Chitrangada Singh, Ananya Birla, Ishaan Khatter, Sridevi, Bipasha Basu, Kajal Agarwal, and more. Eshaa shares that she admired actress Sri Devi the most for inspiration. She believes that she was ahead of her age and time, and working with her is an experience she will forever cherish. Eshaa’s also seen at work in movies Singh is Bliing with Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, Aadat with Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover, and costumes for lead actresses in three South films Manithan, Bogan, and Pokriraja.

One of the fewer stylists beginning with media appearance styling in Bollywood, Eshaa has witnessed a massive shift in the styling industry. Back in 2010, paparazzi, fashion blogs, and fashion police were a new concept in India, she explains. People, especially celebrities, weren’t as meticulous as they are today. Initially, it was either red carpet events or media appearances that mattered most but today perceptions have changed. Social media has fueled the need for perfection and stylists today are more hands-on with a celebrity’s closet than ever before. Whether it’s curating a trendy gym look or a casual airport one, stylists today are tending to every event and appearance of their celebrity clients.

Today, it’s every stylist’s role to make sure you’re able to create a look for your client that the celebrity hasn’t tried before, keeping in mind their profile and comfort zone, shares Eshaa. Rigid deadlines and taking special care of sourced clothes is also essential.

Eshaa’s eponymously named Eshaa Amiin Label was also introduced in November 2014 as a women’s designer pret label. For the stylist, the label is all about expressing her love for fashion. Her collections go heavy on prints, textures, laser cuts, and summer/resort essentials. The designer aims to bring versatility in her pieces for the younger generation, and she loves to keep her collections trendy, edgy, and easy to work with for varying occasions. Her collections has been showcased at The Lakme Fashion Week and Amazon India Fashion Week simultaneously. Eshaa is also closely connected with consulting various fashion brands and collaborate with labels.

With over ten years of experience up her sleeve, her most cherished moments are being the fashion director for Miss India Organization, listed in Indian Achiever’s Club 35Under35 List 2020, and winning awards for her work at the Tassel Awards powered by The Hindustan Times, SYNTH GlobalSpa Fit & Fab Awards, and more.

Her favorite part of her job is that styling isn’t monotonous and every day is a new day to look forward to something different. A competitive industry paired with long working hours and packed schedules makes for its downside.

Eshaa’s golden advice for aspiring stylists is to stay focused and don’t give up. Hard work pays off. Be ready for hustling, life may not always go according to plans. Someone who’s focused is determined to keep learning something new and ready to face challenges every day is who the industry is keen on having.

An optimist with grit for success, Eshaa’s positivity shines through her ardent love for fashion and styling – uplifting thousands of those around her.
